Shawn Morrow
...at the North Tulsa location.

My Story.

I became interested in tattooing after I moved to Evanston, Illinois from Oklahoma at the age of 12. It wasn't uncommon to pass by a tattoo shop or two while I learned my way around Chicago. I had always been interested in drawing, and so it just sort of made sense. School was boring, art wasn't! So I eventually began an apprenticeship under one of Chicago's best portrait artists, and voila, a tattoo artist was born! A short time later, I decided to complete a body-piercing apprenticeship to complement my tattooing.

T-Town Tattoos.

T-Town Tattoos originally opened in January of 2003 as T-Town Tattoos & Novelties. The "novelty" competition just wasn't something we were interested in, so we dropped the "& Novelties", becoming just T-Town Tattoos. One more change will take place in the near future when we add body piercing to our menu.   Shawn started his business venture by opening a shop in January of 2002 called Grand Lake Tattoo. It was and still is just east of the OK-MO border. Although we had built a substantial clientele, the drive eventually became too overwhelming. That was what sparked the T-Town idea.  After almost two successful years in North Tulsa, we moved in November '04, happy to have been Broken Arrow's first tattoo studio.  In September '05, after much consideration we decided to make our permanent home at 4666-C South Mingo in Tulsa.  This new location provided us enough room to add a seperate waiting room for our clients, complete with big screen tv and a snack/drink machine!  Unfortunately we had to close our doors in November of '07, but check back often for updates on where to get work by Shawn.

Tattoo History of Ok

As many people know, tattooing wasn't legal in Oklahoma until November 1, 2006.  Before then people were always asking us,"How are you able to operate?" Oklahoma law previously stated the following;“It shall be unlawful for any person to tattoo or offer to tattoo any person.  As used herein to “tattoo” means to insert pigment under the surface of the skin of a human being, by pricking with a needle or otherwise, so as to produce a permanent indelible mark or figure visible on the skin.”

After Shawn Morrows 2003 charges of illegal tattooing were dismissed "not guilty", the loophole in the law under which we were operating was officially acknowledged and the state of Oklahoma decided they needed to update the laws to allow worthy artist to practice with a state issued license.

Awesome site. I hope and pray they will legalize tattoos in Oklahoma. It would be so much easier and not infringe on our personal rights.

I think this site and what you are doing is great. Oklahoma needs to legalize tattoos! We are the only state that doesn't allow tattooing and I think that makes us look bad. The only thing that I could think of to improve your site is something I don't think you can do and that's a price list on tattoos. I want a tattoo but it's difficult because of a limited budget. I'd hate to save up money and think I have enough and then arrive there and not be able to get the tattoo I want. Though it's all immaterial since I doubt you can create a price list for tattoos. Anyways, keep up the fight and one day we win! Thanks, Melissa

My wife and I got inked in your studio in February of 03 and we couldn't be happier with our experience and with our temporary body art! I was especially impressed with the cleanliness and sterility measures of your shop and artists, and I will definitely give you all my business again. Keep up the fight!

I love the freedom to get a tattoo in my city. I am in the process of getting a cover-up done by Randell. I have done 2 sessions, and have 1 more to go. The people are great and the shop is very clean. I have no worries about health, unlike getting underground work done. I sure hope the law passes, for the sake of everyone getting tattooed in the future. KEEP YOUR LAWS OFF MY BODY

I moved to Oklahoma in 1998, and I have to say that this is the most restricted state in the country. I now have 2 tattoos, and I am getting one tomorrow @ T-Town. I also have 21 piercings and everyone is so closed minded about personal appearances. Right on to Shawn and everyone else fighting for the rights of those of us who feel violated by Oklahoma State Laws and are tired of driving out of state!!!!

I had thought about getting a tattoo for over a year. I came to T-Town Tattoos and had my very first tat done in your shop. I proudly display Jackson's bad girl heart on my chest. Thanks to your shop I was very comfortable and so pleased with the work that I plan on several more tattoos in your shop. Everything was done in a professional and clean environment. Thank you to you Shawn and everyone in your shop. I love my tat and will be back. Deanna

I would love to have tattoo's legal in Oklahoma. I just recently took a position at the county courthouse down town and will try to pop into court on the 3rd of February. I currently have three tattoos and am getting more with tax money. My son and daughter-in-law and I were in there this evening while my son was getting his cover up done (the Indian on the horse). Love the work........Later! Terri

I got my first tattoo about three hours ago by Shawn. It is a Celtic Shamrock that I drew. Shawn did excellent work and I plan to recommend him to ANYONE I find out wants a tattoo! Not only was his work excellent, but he is also a really great guy. Even when I "involuntarily" kicked him in the armpit a few times and got sock lint all over his shirt...he he he (I got the tat on my ankle}. I want to thank Shawn again and I'm sure I'll see him in the future for more work!
